As I reflect on 2016, I’m drawn back to some predictions made by a friend in February.
My friend is a numerologist and advised that this year was a ‘9’ year.
This meant that the year ahead was going to be a year of transformation and letting go. A year of completion, celebration and culmination. I’m not sure if this resonates with you; but it was so accurate for me!
On a global scale, there have been some high profile transformations (think politics), and we continue to face adversity and suffering.
A lot of people have been discouraged by such transformations and ongoing adversity. However, I draw inspiration from the belief that we, both individually and collectively, are creators of our own destiny.
As a great philosopher, Professor Dumbledore from Harry Potter, once said:
“It’s not our abilities that show who we truly are.
It is our choices.”
Love, peace, forgiveness, gratitude, kindness, goodness, reconciliation: these are all choices that we can make.
If we all paid more attention, and took the time to listen, find clarity, and set intentions before making daily choices, we would make a collective positive difference in the world.
I honestly believe that it starts with the individual.
So in the spirit of Christmas, and the act of giving and receiving, why not take some time to reflect on what you are grateful for?
Reflect on the many special people in your life – whether they be friends, family, colleagues or acquaintances, and the blessings that they impart.
Look back on the amazing and wonderful things that exist in this miraculous world, including nature and the unwavering strength of mother earth.
No matter what is going on in your life, there is always something to be genuinely grateful for.
Gratitude actually improves your emotions and reduces stress, making it a shortcut to inner peace.
And the best gift you can give your loved ones is to nurture your own inner peace and be happy.
Think about your loved ones. Wouldn’t their inner peace and happiness be a gift to you?
Feel free to share this gift with your friends and on social media – the more the merrier! But be quick – as this offer expires on 31 December 2016.
